White House Invites Social Media Users To Attend State Visit Arrival Ceremony For Pres. Hollande

Washington, DC - The White House is inviting social media users to apply for the opportunity to attend the South Lawn arrival ceremony for President François Hollande of France when he pays a State Visit to President Barack Obama next Tuesday, Feb. 11.  

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 5th at 6:00 PM EST.  

"For the next White House Social, we are inviting our followers on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, and Tumblr to come to the White House South Lawn for a State Visit to welcome President François Hollande of France," the White House said.

The State Visit and State Dinner in the evening are the first President Obama has hosted since 2012.  The morning arrival ceremony will be a lavish welcome display, and include a review of troops.

The White House application form is here.  Applicants must be 18 or over, and will be required to present a valid, government-issued photo identification.  Invitations are non transferable.  

"Registration indicates your intent to travel to the White House in Washington, D.C. on the morning of Tuesday, February 11th, 2014 to attend the White House Social in person. You will bear any costs associated with travel and lodging," the White House said.

Arrival ceremonies on the South Lawn are "a tradition that started during the Kennedy Administration," the White House said.
