Washington, DC - On the heels of First Lady Michelle Obama's Let's Move! Active Schools event last Friday at Orr Elementary School, the campaign today released a video encouraging schools to sign up for the program. It features star athletes including tennis champion Serena Williams, Olympic sprinter Allyson Felix, and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
All the athletes in the video have joined Mrs. Obama at events to promote Let's Move!, with Felix being the most recent at last Friday's event.
"Studies show that active kids do better, in school and in life. But our kids are moving less and less -- only 1 in 3 kids is active every day. It's time to get our kids moving again," reads the description posted with the video.
"Let's Move! Active Schools is a comprehensive program that empowers P.E. teachers, classroom teachers, principals, administrators, and parents to create active environments that enable all students to get moving and reach their full potential. In this video, athletes discuss the importance of Active Schools and issue a call to action to make your school an Active School today!
