"We're celebrating the launch..."
Washington, DC - First Lady Michelle Obama's massive new Drink Up campaign took a starring roll at the White House's Navy Mess on Friday, featured on a framed placard encouraging "our loyal patrons" to imbibe more water. Mrs. Obama splashed down in Watertown, Wisconsin yesterday to debut her project. The photo, above, was tweeted on the Let's Move! account.
"We're celebrating the launch of Drink Up here at the White House cafeteria! #DrinkH2O," was tweeted on @LetsMove.
The dining room is located on the ground floor of the West Wing, and the menu is prepared by Navy culinary specialists. Seated reservations are available to Senior Officials including Cabinet Secretaries, commissioned officers, and their guests. (The Mess, above)
East Wing and West Wing staff order their food "from a take-out window located adjacent to the dining hall," the White House says. The Mess was established in its current form under President Harry S. Truman in 1951.
