2013 Economic Report of the President shows farm economy doing well despite severe drought...
As America celebrates National Ag Day on Tuesday, it's worth noting that President Obama's Council of Economic Advisors has newly released its 2013 Economic Report of the President. Chapter 8 is "Challenges and Opportunities in US Agriculture," and the news is good:
Despite an "extensive and severe drought" across the nation throughout much of 2012, the agriculture sector "remains a bright spot in the US economy," the Report says. (Above, the President discussing the drought with Iowa farmers last August)

The full report "highlights the progress that has been made in recovering from the deepest recession since the Great Depression, together with the policies that the Obama Administration is advancing to address the fundamental imbalances and threats that have built up for decades and that have created severe stress on the middle class and those striving to get into the middle class," the White House said.
