'Joy to All'- Joined By Military Families, First Lady Unveils 2012 White House Holiday Decor

The White House is a sparkling wonderland for the winter holidays...
First Lady Michelle Obama invited military families, including Gold Star and Blue Star parents, spouses and children to the White House on Wednesday afternoon as she unveiled her 2012 holiday decor theme, 'Joy to All.'  Mrs. Obama's Joining Forces initiative to honor and support military families is spotlighted throughout the glittering mansion this holiday season, with special ornaments and themed Christmas trees.

Her theme "celebrates the many joys of the holiday seasons: the joy of giving and service to others; the joy of sharing our blessings with one another; and, of course, the joy of welcoming our friends and families as guests into our homes over these next several weeks," Mrs. Obama said.

Clad in a gold jacket and skirt ensemble that sparkled as much as the 54 decorated trees that fill the White House, Mrs. Obama paid tribute to the military families who were present for the first viewing, and to the 89 volunteers from 39 states who put in hundreds of hours of work transforming the White House.  There was a craft session with the kids in the State Dining Room, and Mrs. Obama was all smiles as she joined the youngsters in making ornament gifts (above).
