'Bullsh**ter' enters the Presidential campaign rhetoric, but 'poop' was already part of the conversation...
With President Obama's use of a profane epithet to describe his GOP challenger in a Rolling Stone cover-story published today now making global headlines, the makers of the Obama and Mitt Romney Political Pooper toys seem kinda, well, psychic. The 6-inch plastic figurines are wind-up toys that "poop" candy as they walk. ObFo first wrote about the foodie homage in September, but they're now especially timely, thanks to President Obama dubbing his opponent a "bullshitter."
Presidential historian Douglas Brinkley wrote the Rolling Stone piece and reports an Oval Office exchange on October 11th with Mr. Obama and Rolling Stone executive editor Eric Bates, who told the President that his 6-year-old daughter had a message: "You can do it."
President Obama reportedly grinned as he responded "I do very well, by the way, in that demographic."
Asked if he'd like the voting age lowered, the President made his now-famous comment.
"You know, kids have good instincts. They look at the other guy and say, 'Well, that's a bullshitter, I can tell."'
PoliticalPoopers.com has been running an online popularity poll with the toys, and President Obama has been the winner since it was launched. He's currently beating Romney 54% to 46%. Based on actual sales, the Obama pooper has sold 53% to Romney's 47%.
The Pooper sells for $8.99 online, and is cheaper in brick-and-mortar stores.
