First Lady Michelle Obama joined Dr. Mehmet Oz on his syndicated talk show to discuss the Let's Move! campaign on Wednesday. The segment was filmed earlier this month, part of a back-to-school media junket for Mrs. Obama that included an appearance with David Letterman and an upcoming appearance with Rachael Ray on Sept. 17.
Mrs. Obama told familiar stories about the origin of her childhood obesity campaign, saying she launched it thanks to parenting her own daughters. A "blip" in the girls' BMI during a visit to the pediatrician was a red flag, Mrs. Obama said.
She also agreed with Oz when he said "I think obesity is the number one national security threat."
"Absolutely," said Mrs. Obama.
On a lighter note, Mrs. Obama taught the esteemed doctor how to do The Dougie.
"We do alotta turning on the radio and dancing," Mrs. Obama said as she explained her fitness routine. "That's why I know how to do The Dougie and all that stuff."
