"I'm saving a seat for you," President Obama says in new email. "All you have to do is come and eat." And donate...

As noted in this post, Obama for America is now putting on the heavy press to get online entries for the current Dinner with Barack contest, the sixth from the campaign. While President Obama was stumping in the battleground state of Ohio on Monday, supporters got an email from the Eater in Chief, warning that the sweepstakes, launched in June, will be the last chance to be his guest. The President asked for a $5 donation, a spike from previous dinner contests when the email ask was typically $3. First Lady Michelle Obama is included in OFA's graphic logo for the contest (above), but she has not yet been announced as part of the dinner.
"I'm only going to get to sit down to dinner with grassroots supporters on this campaign one last time," President Obama wrote.
"If you haven't participated in one of these before, now's the time because this is our last opportunity to sit down together before the end of the campaign--I hope you'll take me up on it."
Three winners will be selected; each will be allowed to bring a guest. The entry deadline has been changed from the original Sept. 20 to Sept. 25. The prize includes coach-class airfare and a one-night hotel stay, with the approximate retail value of $1,600. It's taxable to the winners, who must also pass background checks and agree to be used in campaign promotions throughout all eternity. Donations are not tax deductible.
There's an alternate "free" entry page for the dinner contest that's required by law. But all of the winners who dined with the President at the five previous contest meals and the four celeb-guest dinners with Michael Jordan, George Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker, and former President Bill Clinton made donations.
The contests have helped dump plenty of money into the President's war chest, but OFA won't specify an exact amount. The Clooney dinner last May was credited with a $15 million boost for the President.
Mrs. Obama was included in the fifth Dinner with Barack contest, and joined the President and his winners at DC's Mintwood Place restaurant in August. She also attended the third contest dinner, held at DC's Boundary Road restaurant in March of 2012.

The President's email had the subject line "I'm saving a seat for you."
I'm only going to get to sit down to dinner with grassroots supporters on this campaign one last time.
It's one of the most meaningful things we do, and represents exactly the kind of politics we believe in: All of us, at one table, together.
So if you're someone who is helping to build this campaign, I want to meet you. I want to thank you in person. And I'd love to hear what's on your mind.
If you haven't participated in one of these before, now's the time because this is our last opportunity to sit down together before the end of the campaign -- I hope you'll take me up on it.
Your donation of $5 or whatever you're able to chip in will automatically enter you:
