White House Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses Targeted By Conspiracy Theorists

The Crust Master's molecular gastronomy lecture in Dublin leads to dark speculation that the future will be filled with chemical-only food for the masses...
Forget President Obama's birth certificate.  Conspiracy theorists are newly obsessed with the Eater in Chief's favorite pie maker, Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses.  It follows a molecular gastronomy lecture/demo, "Science and the Future of Cuisine," that the erudite White House chef gave in mid-July at Dublin, Ireland's massive Euroscience Open Forum 2012.  (Above: Yosses in action at the Forum with a vat of liquid nitrogen)

Thanks to a story that appeared this week on NaturalNews.com, Yosses' lecture is causing an internet ruckus.  The headline read White House chef says future food to be made from chemicals, not food ingredients.

The story has now been reposted to the internet's top conspiracy site, Prison Planet, and it's getting play on many other conspiracy theory forums, including AboveTopSecret.com.

In Dublin, Yosses' lecture was a variation on similar food science chemistry/physics presentations he's given in the past two years at Harvard University and UCLA.  He dazzled his audience by creating desserts with chemical compounds and things like liquid nitrogen rather than with raw foodstuffs.

But the Natural News story dubbed Yosses' demo "a disturbing workshop," and quotes the chef telling Ireland's RTE media outlet Six One News that the Obamas don't like to eat food that's made with the latest scientific innovations.  Yosses said he "rarely" uses the techniques in the White House.

"The First Family is looking for traditional, sort of 'happy recipes' that people are familiar with," Yosses said.

But Yosses looked like a fire-breathing dragon in RTE's video report as he ingested a "coconut ball" dessert he'd made with chemical compounds, superfrozen with liquid nitrogen, and blew the smoke out.

After Natural News made this dark prediction about the future of food for the masses, it was off to the races for conspiracy theorists:

"The average person...will eventually be expected to happily eat green gelatin-like blobs made of chemical compounds, along with ambiguous cracker products that resemble "Soylent Green," while the White House and the world's other elites continue to eat wholesome, natural foods, including those hand-picked from Michelle Obama's organic garden."

The report has been reposted elsewhere--repeatedly; The Other News ran the story with a headline that read "Let them eat 'Soylent Green'"- and a photo of First Lady Michelle Obama. The tale of the Pastry Chef promoting chemicals rather than "real food" is also building out with new embroideries.

Yosses was joined in his Dublin lecture by the "father" of molecular gastronomy, Hervé This of AgroParisTech in France, and Dr. Mark Post of Maastricht University in the Netherlands, the scientist responsible for developing the process for growing meat in test tubes.  This is quoted in the Natural News story, which is based on the RTE video, below.
