"Times may be tough--our people are tougher," President Obama says...
Images and video clips from President Obama's bus tour through rural America in August of 2011 are featured in a new 'Rural Americans for Obama' campaign video released on Tuesday, July 3rd. The President heads out on his first official campaign bus tour through Pennsylvania and Ohio next week, starting on July 5th.
"America's small towns and rural communities are all about the values that America was founded on--family and community come first and if you're willing to work hard, you can make a good life for yourself and a better one for your kids," President Obama says in a voice over in the video.
The video is featured today with a sign-up button to join the special interest group on BarackObama.com. The President has made a big push to woo rural citizens, most recently with a June announcement of a pledge to invest nearly $2 billion in rural America by the end of fiscal year 2016. The Administration also released a report that details efforts "made in the agricultural economy." It showed that more than $400 million has already been invested this fiscal year in small businesses in rural America, according to the White House.
BarackObama.com notes that "President Barack Obama knows that too many rural families are working harder and harder and not getting ahead. He's committed to restoring the promise that has always been America — if you work hard, pull your weight and act responsibly, you'll get a fair shake in this economy."
