The House Agriculture Committee will begin the markup of the Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act (FARRM) on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM ET. Live audio and video feeds are available here. It will also be broadcast live on C-SPAN 3. The markup will go title by title, and will include the introduction of amendments, debate, and votes. The proceedings will continue through the afternoon with a break expected for a series of votes on the House floor at about 2:30 PM.Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas (R-OK) and Ranking Member Collin Peterson (D-Minn) completed the discussion draft more than a week ago and released it last Thursday. A limited number of amendments have been filed, but the texts have not been released, and will be made available to the press during the markup.
The legislation is quite different from the Farm Bill approved by the Senate in late June. The current Farm Bill expires on Sept. 30.
