"Trust me--you'll have fun" reads the subject line of today's e-mail from Vice President Joe Biden, asking donors to drop $3 to enter the contest to attend President Obama's August 12th birthday fundraiser. The deadline to enter the event is July 26th, and it has been the subject of e-mails from the President and from First Lady Michelle Obama.
"Barack's turning 51 in a couple weeks," Biden wrote. "And it's a big &%$#!X@&*# deal!"
Actually, the Veep didn't write the second sentence, but his e-mail might inspire more donations if he did. The real and fairly boring text is reprinted below.
On Monday an e-mail from campaign HQ included an old family photo. As with all Obama for America online contests, there's a required page where hopefuls can enter the contest for free--and good luck to them. They'd still have to pay taxes on the assigned retail value of the prize package, which is $1,600.
The text of Biden's e-mail:
XXXX--
Barack's turning 51 in a couple weeks. And when he goes home to Chicago for a birthday party in his backyard, a couple grassroots supporters like you will be flown in from wherever you live to celebrate.
In the middle of a tough election, it's important to pause on occasion and take some time with friends.
What do you say?
We'll cover the flight and hotel for you and a guest -- donate $3 or whatever you can today to be automatically entered to win:

Take it from me. You'll have fun at this one.
Joe
