Eating loads of ice cream "got old pretty quickly"...
In a new White House video, Nancy-Ann DeParle, an Assistant to President Obama and his Deputy Chief of Staff, says her first job as a 'soda jerk' at the Live and Let Live drug store in her hometown of Rockwood, TN was "awesome."
"I learned how to make and serve up hot fudge sundaes, and root beer floats and ice cream cones," DeParle says. "And I learned that while it might be seem to be a good thing to eat as much ice cream as you wanted, that got old pretty quickly."
The video is part of a series promoting President Obama's Summer Jobs+ initiative. Other foodcentric videos from the series: Executive Chef Cris Comerford talks about her first job as a salad bar girl. And Office of Public Engagement chief Jon Carson was a farm boy.
