Obama E-Mails About Dinner With Clinton

Men of the People...
President Obama
on Tuesday morning sent his first e-mail about the "An Evening With Two Presidents" sweepstakes, a fundraising contest launched on May 21 by Obama 2012. Mr. Obama spotlighted the similarities between himself and former President Bill Clinton as he asked supporters for a $3 donation for the chance to attend the $35,800/plate Gala Dinner on June 4th in New York City.

"Here's one thing I really appreciate about President Clinton: He's someone who doesn't focus on ideology, but on people--what they're going through day to day," President Obama wrote. "He gets it. We share that."

Two winners and their guests will join 44 and 42 at The Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York. Scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM, the event includes a performance by rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, a longtime supporter. President Obama has three fundraisers planned for the day: He will also attend 'Barack on Broadway' at the New Amsterdam Theater on West 42nd Street at 7:00 PM. The third event will be at hedge-fund manager Mark Lasry's home, with tickets at $40,000 each.

Clinton has signed on for a series of fundraisers with President Obama, and their first was a dinner and reception on April 29th at the Virginia home of former Democratic National Committee chair Terry McAuliffe.

"I'm excited for the chance to get together with him again," President Obama wrote.

Coach-class airfare and a one-night hotel stay are included in the prize package. The assigned retail value is $1,650.00, and it is taxable to the winners.

The Clinton sweepstakes is one of three that are currently being held by Obama 2012: There's also a contest underway for two winners to attend a June 14 fundraiser in New York, hosted by Sarah Jessica Parker at her home. Pop diva Mariah Carey is attached to that event. A separate and fifth 'Dinner with Barack' contest is currently accepting entries.

The subject heading for the e-mail read "Bill Clinton."

Here's one thing I really appreciate about President Clinton:

He's someone who doesn't focus on ideology, but on people -- what they're going through day to day. He gets it.

We share that. I'm excited for the chance to get together with him again, and meet a couple of you and your guests, at the event next month.

We'll be getting together in New York City -- and we hope you, and a guest of your choice, will join us.

If you'd like to be there, chip in $3 or whatever you can to help build this campaign, and you'll be automatically entered for that chance:
