The Obama girls are "beautiful," Vergara says...In town for Saturday's White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, Modern Family star Sofia Vergara met President Obama and the First Family at the White House before the big party. She also got cozy with Social Secretary Jeremy Bernard at Vanity Fair's after party, held at the residence of the French Ambassador on Kalorama Road (above, Vergara and Bernard).
"I already met the President today and the First Family at the White House," Vergara told the reporters massed on the Washington Hilton's Red Carpet for the dinner arrivals.
Obama daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, are big fans of Modern Family, which Vergara dubbed "amazing." She said she took photos with the girls during her White House visit.
"They're very, you know, beautiful girls, very elegant, very nice," Vergara said.
She was the subject of one of comic Jimmy Kimmel's jokes during the dinner, as he riffed on the Secret Service prostitution scandal at the Summit of the Americas.
"She's from Colombia. This is what women look like in Colombia," Kimmel said. "What's the Secret Service supposed to do?"
Vergara's co-stars Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were also at the dinner. The Social Secretary is also a big fan of Modern Family. Last year, Bernard invited Ferguson and his boyfriend Justin Mikita to lunch at the White House.
"Lunch at the White House with the fantastic Jeremy Bernard!" Ferguson wrote on Twitter, adding "I tried to steal this," with a photo of his plate from the Navy Mess.
Carol Joynt, who blogs at CarolJoynt.com, took the photo of Bernard and Vergara at the Vanity Fair party. She reports that other guests included Obama fundraiser in chief George Clooney, bundler extraordinaire Harvey Weinstein, rock legend Patti Smith; Reese Witherspoon, Rachel Zoe, CIA Director David Patraeus, Daniel Radcliffe, Kevin Spacey, Kelly Ripa, Piers Morgan, Goldie Hawn, Barbara Walters, Rosario Dawson, and Uggie the Dog, among others.
