Philly Campaign Trail Treat: President Obama Drops By John's Water Ice

“I love being in Philly. Especially when I’ve got ice like this," President says as he heads for DNC fundraisers...
In Philadelphia to attend two DNC fundraising events late on Thursday afternoon, President Obama stopped off for a lemon frozen treat at John’s Water Ice. Located at 7th & Christian Streets, the tiny icery bills itself as “family owned and operated since 1945," and is popular with locals. Accompanied by Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA), President Obama, clad in his shirtsleeves, bounded in and ordered at the counter at about 4:40 PM. They were soon joined by Reps. Chaka Fattah and Robert Brady (both D-PA) and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter. (Above: President Obama eats his ice; Brady is at right and Fattah behind him; the other man is Secret Service)

President Obama dubbed his cup of lemon ice "outstanding." It's $3.00 for a cup.

"I strongly recommend it," the President said.

“I love being in Philly. Especially when I’ve got ice like this,’’ President Obama said.

Spotting a mother with a little boy on the other side of Christian Street, the President pointed and said: “I’ve got to say hi to this guy.’’

He crossed the street and greeted the woman, Anne Lynagh, and her son, Declan.

Declan got a presidential high-five.

The President left with his entourage to deliver remarks at a DNC event at the Hyatt at the Bellevue, arriving in Center City at 4:58 PM. After, he delivered remarks at a DNC event at a private residence.

It's the final day of the first round of fundraising for Campaign 2012. First Lady Michelle Obama attended fundraising events in Massachusetts and Vermont today.
