The 112th Congress begins today. President Obama, who is now enjoying a public approval rating of 50%, has no public events scheduled. Following a bipartisan prayer service in the nation's Capitol, 85 Republicans and 9 Democrats will be sworn in as new members of the House of Representatives. At noon, Vice President Joe Biden will preside over the swearing in of 13 new Senators.
In a bit of patriotic theatrics, the new GOP majority in the House will be reading the Constitution aloud in the Chamber tomorrow, and plan to pass a new rule to require that every bill cite its basis in the Constitution. You can read the Constitution here. It was signed on September 17, 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. ;)
