Michaele Salahi will pose for Playboy & auction off her infamous red sari...for a Presidential foundation, of course Michaele Salahi, the female half of the Virginia couple who crashed the first State Dinner of the Obama administration in November of 2009, is boosting her efforts at becoming a full-bore cliche. In addition to starring in a reality TV series, Salahi will now be appearing in Playboy magazine: "we're talking full-frontal, birthday suit naked," Gossip site TMZ.com reports.
Or perhaps Salahi is gifting the world with her birthday suit because she's getting rid of her most infamous item of attire. TMZ also reported on Friday that Salahi is auctioning off the bright red, glittery sari (actually a two-piece version of traditional garb known as a lengha) that she wore during her security breach, as she shook hands with President Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the receiving line for the State Dinner with India. The White House released the photo, above, of Salahi with the President as her husband, Tareq looks on; Singh is in the background. The Salahis also posed for photos with Vice President Joe Biden, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and a host of other guests during the event, which they later posted on their Facebook page.
The Potomack Co., an Old Town Alexandria, VA, auction house, will put the dress on the block on October 2. The Crashing Couple "have directed the auction gallery to forward 80 percent of their proceeds from the gown's sale to the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund," and a yet-to-be-named local charity, a spokesperson from the auction house told Washington Post. (Above: The auction house's webpage advertising the sale of the gown; in the photo, the Salahis have just entered the White House)President Obama was joi
ned by former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush in the Rose Garden in January, to announce the creation of the fund, following the devastating earthquake that destroyed much of Haiti's capital city, and killed more than a quarter of a million citizens. No crashers were reported during the announcement event.Potomack Co. spokesperson Lucie Holland said the dress is "is in beautiful condition," and estimates that it could bring $2,000 to $3,000, far less than recent sales of other gowns owned by beauties who attended White House events, including Princess Diana or Marilyn Monroe.
"Our estimates are conservative," Holland said. "We hope to generate interest."
The Crashing Couple is currently appearing on "reality" TV series "The Real Housewives of DC." The Playboy shoot will take place later this month.
