The Menu: First Lady's Luncheon For UN Spouses At Blue Hill At Stone Barns

Pocantico Hills, New York: Chef Dan Barber created a special menu for First Lady Michelle Obama's four-course luncheon for 31 visiting UN spouses today. The Farm to Table feast was at Barber's Blue Hill restaurant, which anchors the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in New York state, about 25 miles outside of New York City. Seated with Mrs. Obama at her table: On her left, Hayrunnisa Gul, First Lady of the Republic of Turkey; on her right, Ingrid Schulerud, First Lady of Norway. The rest of the table: Evelin IIves, First Lady of Estonia; Rosella Nestor King, wife of the Prime Minister of St. Lucia; Rosa Elena Lobo, the First Lady of Honduras; Lilita Zatlere, the First Lady of Latvia; and David Barber, co-owner of Blue Hill and brother of Dan Barber.

White House Executive Chef Cristeta Comerford, Executive Pastry Chef Bill Yosses, and assistant chef Sam Kass all joined Barber in the kitchen to cook, as did a group of third graders from a local elementary school. The simple but delicious meal featured produce grown at Stone barns, as well as in the White House Kitchen Garden. The chicken and eggs came from the hen house Mrs. Obama and her guests visited before lunch, while on a walking tour of the 80-acre farm. Honey from the White House beehive was used for dessert.
