Michelle Obama & Girls Visit Mad Martha's Ice Cream Shop On Martha's Vineyard - Updated With Video

Sample 'Barack My World' ice cream...
The First Family was out and about a lot on Martha's Vineyard on Friday, for the first full day of their ten-day vacation. Late morning, President Obama took daughters Malia and Sasha to Bunch of Grapes bookstore in Vineyard Haven, and in the afternoon, First Lady Michelle Obama took over the summer fun duties. She brought the girls to Mad Martha's, a popular ice creamery that has two outlets on island. Mrs. Obama and the girls visited the Mad Martha's on Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs.

Last summer, during the Obamas' first visit to the island, Mad Martha's created an Obama Homage flavor, "Barack My World," which is an espresso ice cream base, with macadamia nuts, and caramel. It's still being served this summer, of course. Ice cream counter manager Emma Welch wouldn't divulge the flavors anyone in the Obama party ordered when queried, but did tell Cape Cod Times that someone in the Obama party had sampled the Presidential treat--and liked it. The President was playing golf at Vineyard Golf Club while Mrs. Obama and the girls were in town. (Above: Mrs. Obama exiting Mad Martha's; yes, it's the First Lady; that's her deputy press secretary, in green, in case there's any doubt)

This video report from Cape Cod Times on the First Lady's visit should be titled Like, OhMyGod!:

Info: Mad Martha's is at 117 Circuit Ave., Oak Bluffs, Mass., 02557. Phone: 508 693 9151.
