No taxation without representation...er, cussin'As he hopped behind the counter to help staff serve treats at Kopp's Frozen Custard in Greenfield, WI on Friday, Vice President Joe Biden's penchant for earthy language attracted the attention of...er, everyone. It was captured on video, of course.
After Biden asked Kopp's manager Scott Borkin how much he owed for a custard cone he was eating, Borkin responded, "Don't worry it's on us. Lower our taxes and we'll call it even."
"Why don't you say something nice instead of being a smartass all the time?" Biden responded.
The video, below, from WISN-TV, captures the exchange, and Borkin laughs off the incident. It made the center-of-page headline on Drudge Report, however. (Above: Biden serves custard)
Real Clear Politics memorializes Biden's frozen assets:
Ass seems to be a word that's not regarded as offensive by the White House. During a Today show interview on June 8 about the federal response to the BP oil spill in the Gulf Coast, President Obama announced to NBC's Matt Lauer, on national television, that he wanted to know "whose ass to kick." It's not the first time Biden's swearing has been caught on tape. During the press conference following the passage of the historic health insurance reform bill, Biden was caught whispering to President Obama that the bill was "a big fucking deal."
Yes, the swear word is written out here. If the Vice President can say it, Ob Fo will print it. (Above: The blurry fellow in foreground is the manager who received Biden's advice) Before his stop to slop frozen custard, Biden was at a fund raiser in Milwaukee for Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI).
Update, Monday, June 28: Appearing on FOX News today, Borkin said he was "thrown" by Biden's comment.
"I guess that little comment kind of set him off," Borkin said.
"I was just joking around," he added. "It was kind of shocking to hear that come out of his mouth."
