President Obama had lunch today in the Oval Office Private Dining Room with Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine. It was closed press (thus the word private), but the White House released the photo, above.
After lunch, Kaine, former governor of Virginia, told MSNBC that President Obama is "optimistic" that Congress will hold an "up-or-down vote" on health care legislation, though Kaine said he isn't a "whiz on House procedure."
President Obama will make another public pitch for health care reform on Friday, at George Mason University, the White House announced this afternoon.
"We’re not taking anything for granted," Kaine said. He added that there is "still work going on to make sure the numbers are there."
