During a serious speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington this morning, President Obama made a call for a return to civility in politics, urging all Americans--and especially those in Washington--to stop personal and gratuitous political attacks.
"Empowered by faith, consistently, prayerfully, we need to find our way back to civility," President Obama said. "Civility is not a sign of weakness."
The President attended
the breakfast with First Lady Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The annual event is run by a conservative Christian coalition known as The Family, and was attended by more than 3,500 guests. Both the President and Sec. Clinton decried Uganda's "death-to-homosexuals" legislation during their remarks. More background on the history of the event is here.
