President Hu Hosts China State Dinner In Honor of President Obama: The Menu

Steak & Stevie Wonder
China's President Hu Jintao hosted a state dinner in honor of President Obama last night (Tuesday evening, China-time), in the Gold Room of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Thirteen tables of guests were present. (Above: The head table, which seated 21 people; President Obama is center, President Hu is on his right, and Sec. of State Hillary Clinton is next to him)

The Menu
Hors d'Oeuvres
Chicken Soup with Bean Curd
Chinese-Style Beef Steak
Roast Grouper
Stir-fried Wild Rice Stem and Asparagus

Dessert
Pastries
Fruit Ice Cream

The Wine

Chinese Great Wall wine, 2002 vintage, both red and white was served (yes, the winery is actually located at the foot of the Great Wall).

Also present at dinner: Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, and Commerce Secretary Gary Locke were among those seated with President Obama and President Hu. A People's Liberation Army military band played during the meal, and pool reports say that Stevie Wonder's I just Called To Say I Love You and Michael Jackson's We Are The World were among the song selections. Could your intrepid blogger make that up? (Top photo: A server places a napkin in President Obama's lap; bottom is beverage service)
