First Lady's international dinner highlights local and organic foods, sustainably grown While President Obama had a working dinner with G20 leaders at The Phipps Conservatory last night, First Lady Michelle Obama hosted dinner for the G20 Spouses at Rosemont Farm, in Fox Chapel, PA.
Located right outside Pittsburgh, the working farm is owned by philanthropist Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Sen. John Kerry (Mrs. Kerry, in photo). High-profile G20 Spouses included Carla Bruni Sarkozy, wife of French president Nicolas Sarkozy; Svetlana Medvedeva, wife of Russian president Dmitry Medvedev; and Sarah Brown, wife of UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Of course Mrs. Obama's Social Secretary, Desiree Rogers was present, as was her Chief of Staff, Susan Sher. The dinner was the first time Mrs. Obama has hosted all the G20 Spouses on US soil, though she's met them all previously, at the London G20 in April, and at the L'Aquila G8 in July. Salad greens and apples grown at Rosemont were on the menu for the private dinner, as were other foods sourced from Pennsylvania farms. Dinner was served at a long, rectangular table with Mrs. Obama seated between the G20 spouses from Brazil and Indonesia; Mrs. Bruni Sarkozy was across the table. The Pittsburgh Philharmonic Orchestra's Jazz Trio played throughout the meal. (Above: Mrs. Obama speaks with Carla Bruni Sarkozy, who has her back to the camera. Below: Mrs. Obama's place setting)
