First It Was The Logo, Now It's An Organic Garden...PepsiCo Goes Obama Again...Only This Time It's Inspired By The First Lady

President Obama and PepsiCo Chair and Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi had a secret dinner right before the Inauguration, and no doubt they discussed the future White House Kitchen Garden. Ms. Nooyi has just christened a new employee-run organic garden at the company's world headquarters in Purchase, New York. The garden uses no pesticides, and will be fertilized with coffee grounds from the company cafeteria. Twenty-five vegetables and thirty herbs are currently being grown, and the harvest will be donated to the Westchester Food Bank.

"We're bringing home the idea of thinking globally and acting locally," Ms. Nooyi said in a presser. "Our employees envisioned this garden as a catalyst to integrate healthful, locally grown herbs and vegetables into their everyday lives. I believe that it will also be a source of inspiration for innovation in our products and operations."

Awesome. Maybe PepsiCo can expand the garden and donate produce to local school lunch programs, too. Just a wild thought....
