There's a cool new IPhone app available to help out-of-towners navigate DC during Obama's Inauguration. PR firm Qorvis Communications and the law firm Patton Boggs have just launched the 2009 Presidential Inauguration Guide. It's a free download, and includes a Zagat dining guide for Washington, Metro service time schedule and station locations, a WIFI directory, and parking garage locations. Very vital to finding places to engage in the Obama Boozorama, as well as Free Places to Pee in DC! Reporter Emily Leaman from DC-local mag Washingtonian took the app for a spin, and reports it works well.
With a little savvy tek-jacking, we're sure you can also use the app to find places outraged inaugural attendees will be gathering to protest California pastor Rick Warren's appearance at The Inauguration. The blogosphere's filled with excoriation today over Obama's pick of the gay-H8er; commentator Leah McElrath Renna calls the choice "an act of spiritual violence against lesbian and gay American citizens and a profound betrayal of the philosophy of inclusion and unity espoused by President-elect Obama." Read her full commentary on Huffington Post here. Warren defends himself in the Los Angeles Times, here.

Update, Post-Inaug: The App worked eerily well, and included all kinds of down-to-the second details for timed events. Particularly useful when trying to find a different Mall gate, to flee the Purple Tunnel of Doom.
